When it comes to getting in shape, intervals are all you need, right?
As far as losing weight goes intervals are far more efficient than dying on a treadmill for hours. Interval training definitely has some great pros, like shorter workouts and greater muscle retention.
With that said, steady state cardio does have certain benefits to the cardiovascular system that intervals can’t provide. It’s also very good for recovery. In fact, new science says that 10 minutes of post-workout brisk walking can provide the same recovery benefits as taking an ice bath!
Based on what the science says, it would be in your best interest to alternate between interval training and steady-state cardio.
